I am running linux on my Dell XPS 15 9570 that uses a Goodix Fingerprint Reader. I am unable to find a driver anywhere. Please advise on how to proceed.
Thanks and Regards
Hi，it is very sorry that we won't opensource for the time being. But we are now working with Dell and are expected to start supporting linux fingerprinting in the second half of the year. Thank you.
Hi Goodix devs
Is someone at Goodix side is reading this forum ?
It's now 15 month you reply that you will support 27c6:5395 under linux in the second half of the las year ... More than 1 year later, still impossible to make this f**** device working
Sure, next time I won't buy a Dell laptop or a laptop with Goodix product unsupported in linux kernel and not reference in Linux kernel database (LKMDB)
First ask for Linux drivers on Goodix products for XPS15 is now more than 2 years old ... still nothing !!
Dell & Goodix are not serious company, more than 5 000 000 000 (5.17 billion) of Linux kernel are running in the world in 07/2021 so it's absolutly unacceptable that people like Dell or Goodix do not develop Linux drivers for their hardware BEFORE developping for Microsoft or Apple which represent together less than 1 billion of devices.
Another way to proceed is to open your standard and code and to let the linux kernel communauty make the work ! very easy , no ?
Hope we get an update with a solution from Goodix Devs before the end of the month (07/2021)
The work done with Dell for Ubuntu and XPS13 don't work on XPS15
Please, could you provide drivers needed by the Goodix HTK32 (usb id : 27c6:5395) for Debian (meta distrib) and specially for XPS15 ?
If you can't, please give us the source
I also use XPS 15 9570 on Ubuntu 20.04 and need this driver (27c6:5395), thank you.
Many people still use the XPS 9570 nowadays. It's a complete nonsense not to release a driver for that similar device. Goodix, you don't do anything to recover your bad reputation
